WHOOP signed Ronaldo as a global ambassador in May 2024 and, unusually, as an investor. That distinction is the whole point. A conventional ambassadorship pays a fee for appearances; an equity position ties his upside to the company's valuation.
The bet has moved. WHOOP raised a $575 million Series D in March 2025 at a $10.1 billion valuation, with Ronaldo participating. The size of his stake has never been disclosed, so we carry the position itself as Verified and the value as Undisclosed. The round tells you what WHOOP is worth; it tells you nothing about how much of it he owns.
This deal is the clearest marker of how his off-field strategy changed after 2023. Nike, Herbalife, Clear and Armani are fee-based relationships built in his twenties. WHOOP, Therabody and Binance are structured for ownership or revenue share. The same shift shows up in the Al Nassr equity stake and the UD Almería purchase.
