Ronaldo Finance Glossary
The vocabulary behind the numbers. We keep concepts like net worth, career earnings and salary strictly distinct — here's what each term means and why it matters.

Career earnings
IncomeCumulative pre-tax money earned over a career — wages, bonuses, fees and endorsements — before taxes and spending. Not the same as net worth (which is what's left after both).
Confidence rating
MethodOur label (Verified or Estimated) on every figure, signalling how well-sourced it is. Verified = official filings or multiple independent outlets agree; Estimated = a reasoned analytical estimate, a single source, or a management statement not independently audited.
EEAT
MethodExperience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trust — Google's framework for quality. We address it with named sourcing, confidence ratings, dated reviews and transparent methodology.
Equity stake
WealthAn ownership share in a company. Ronaldo holds 15% of Al Nassr and 25% of UD Almería — positions whose value moves with the clubs rather than with his salary.
Gross vs net salary
SalaryEuropean contracts are usually reported net (after tax), so a €31M net Juventus salary cost the club roughly double in gross terms. Saudi contracts are tax-free, which makes the headline and the take-home the same number.
Image rights
Off-fieldThe commercial rights to a person's name, likeness and brand, often held in a dedicated company and licensed to sponsors. The structure at the centre of Ronaldo's 2019 Spanish tax settlement.
Licensing / royalty
Off-fieldAn arrangement where a partner manufactures and sells product under a brand name and pays the owner a percentage. CR7 underwear, footwear and fragrance work this way — revenue without operating costs.
Lifetime deal
DealsAn endorsement contract with no end date, paying the athlete during and after their playing career. Ronaldo's 2016 Nike agreement is the largest ever signed in sport.
Net worth
WealthThe estimated value of all someone's assets (cash, property, business equity, IP) minus their liabilities. For a private individual it is always a modelled estimate, not an audited figure.
Signing bonus
SalaryA one-off payment made on signature, separate from salary. Ronaldo's June 2025 Al Nassr extension included a reported $34M signing bonus.
Undisclosed
MethodWe use this label when a real deal or asset exists but its value isn't public. We mark it Undisclosed rather than invent a number.
Wealth-retention rate
WealthThe share of gross career earnings that survives as net worth after taxes, spending and investment returns. Ronaldo's is roughly 57% — $1.2B retained from $2.1B earned.
