Where the numbers get soft
Two positions deserve a warning label. The Medialivre stake has been reported at both 10% and 30% by credible Portuguese outlets — we carry it as “minority” and rate it Estimated until one is confirmed. And a 15% share of Al Nassr, a club under Saudi Public Investment Fund control, has no market price: the ~$45.4M figure is a signing-date estimate, not a valuation you could realise.

Fee to equity: the structural shift

For twenty years Ronaldo's off-field income was fees — appear in the campaign, wear the boots, collect the cheque. Since 2024 the pattern has changed. WHOOP took him on as ambassador and investor; the company was valued at $10.1 billion in its March 2025 Series D. Therabody followed the same shape. Binance pays through NFT collections with a revenue share rather than a retainer.

The June 2025 Al Nassr extension was the clearest example: part of his compensation arrived as ownership rather than cash. It is the same move Messi made at Inter Miami, and it is why both men's net worth can now rise in a year they play no differently.

Football clubs as an asset class

The UD Almería purchase in February 2026 — 25% for a reported €25 million, bought through CR7 Sports Investments alongside majority owner SMC Group — is the first position where Ronaldo is an owner rather than an employee with equity. A Segunda División club pushing for LaLiga promotion is a leveraged bet: the valuation gap between Spain's first and second tiers is large, and it turns on results.
